Vietnamese, Lao Prime Ministers celebrate Lunar New Year

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese and Lao Prime Ministers have joined Lunar New Year celebrations with the Vietnamese community in Laos.

At the celebration in Vientiane on Sunday night, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnamese expatriates play an important role in forging friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

“The Vietnam-Lao traditional ties are special and second to none. It’s essential to preserve the relationship for the successes of the revolutionary causes of both countries. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, I wish the Lao Prime Minister and all Vietnamese expats happiness and success,” Mr Phuc said.

Lao PM Thonglou Sisoulith said he is happy to share the joy of the Vietnamese people and expects that the Lao-Vietnam friendship will continue to flourish.

Earlier, the two Prime Ministers visited telecommunications company Star Telecom, a joint venture between Lao Asia Telecom and Vietnam’s Viettel Group. They attended the inaugural ceremony for Star Telecom’s new headquarters, one of the most beautiful buildings in Laos. Construction started in 2015 with total investment of 12 million USD.
