Vietnam’s FDI hits 8.5 billion USD in first two months of 2019

(VOVWORLD) - Foreign investors have invested 8.5 billion USD in Vietnam as of February 20, 2.5 times higher than in the same period last year, according to the Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Planning and Investment. This number includes newly registered capital, additional capital, and shares purchased by foreign investors.

Foreign investors pumped their money into 18 sectors, of which manufacturing and processing was the hottest with total pledged capital of 6.9 billion USD, followed by the real estate and the science and technology sectors.

Hong Kong, China, topped the list of 66 countries and territories investing in Vietnam so far this year, with a total investment of 4.3 billion USD, followed by Singapore and South Korea.

Hanoi was the most attractive among 44 FDI destinations, with 4 billion USD. Ho Chi Minh City came second and Bac Ninh province third.
