60 members of the Vietnam Science and Technology Journalists' Club selected the events based on policies, the natural sciences, the social sciences and humanities, applied research, globalization, and scientists honored.

The events included Professor Dam Thanh Son of the University of Chicago receiving the 2018 Dirac Medal; successful research on artificial leaves that are able to convert sunlight and water into hydrogen; and the development of a sea water ice generator.
