(VOVworld) - The Viking 2014 international exercises began Tuesday in Vaziani, Georgia, under NATO sponsorship to improve the coordinated action in crisis conditions. The exercises involve Georgia, Bulgaria, Ireland, Serbia, and the US European Command.

The scenario simulates a crisis in which the US and NATO ask for multinational teams to stabilize the situation. Viking 2014 will conclude next Thursday.

Also on Tuesday, the Ukrainian parliament approved a decision by its acting Speaker Oleksander Turchynov to allow foreign troops to enter Ukraine’s territory for 8 multinational drills, scheduled to take place between May and August this year and involving 2,500 Ukrainian troops and troops from 18 other countries.
