Associate Professor Xia Lu of Beijing University who has been working for 30 years using the Vietnamese language, said she was glad to return to Vietnam to meet her Vietnamese friends and colleagues and participate in academic exchange activities.

In 2023, Xia Lu published a poetry collection in Vietnamese that she had translated and edited in seven years. Before that, she translated two novels "The Sorrow of War" and "Dumb Luck", which created a certain resonance in the Chinese literature.

She has lots of plans for 2024, which include continuing to translate several literary works and publish a collection of Vietnamese contemporary short stories.

“In fact, I translated this book long time ago, many of the works have been published in magazines and newspapers in China. I will also go to Vietnam to conduct surveys and attend conferences," said Xia Lu.

Having studied in Vietnam for many years, Professor Mi Liang, Director of the Law Institute of Beijing Foreign Studies University, had his first post-pandemic business trip to Vietnam this December.

“This is the first time after the pandemic that I led Chinese students to visit Vietnam. I find this very important because people-to-people exchanges, especially cultural and educational exchanges, are essential for the bilateral relationship. In 2024, Beijing Foreign Language University will carry out multiple cooperative programs with Vietnamese universities to strengthen educational cooperation," said Mi Liang.

Gong Min, one of the first teachers of the Vietnam Faculty at Beijing Foreign Studies University No.2, said that in 2024 her students will come to Vietnam to study and they will have more Vietnamese friends and contribute to the China-Vietnam relationship.
