WHO confident in Vietnam’s ability to contain ongoing pandemic outbreak

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has stepped up the response measures that successfully contained past COVID-19 outbreaks and these are being adjusted on a daily basis as the situation evolves, said Dr Kidong Park, WHO Representative in Vietnam.

In an interview with Vietnam News Agency, Mr. Park said the WHO is confident Vietnam can suppress current outbreaks with its whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach. Mr. Park said the WHO, as a co-creator of the COVAX Facility, is committed to providing COVID-19 vaccines, covering up to 20% of the population, to participating countries like Vietnam, by the end of 2021.

The WHO has been providing technical advice for developing national testing strategies and guidelines, and has also provided laboratory testing materials, including specimen collection kits and reagents, and is committed to continuing to do so.
