A "Get ready for it" campaign was launched to reinforce the message that monkey pox is still with us and continued vigilance is needed.

The campaign urges the most vulnerable groups and sexually active individuals who plan to attend events across Europe this spring and summer to be aware of the symptoms of monkey pox, get tested, and abstain from sexual activity if they show any symptoms.

WHO Europe is planning to release a catalogue of resources on monkey pox mass gathering and large event preparedness, including updated guidance and information for authorities and event organizers in preparation for this year's festival season.

Last May, an outbreak of monkey pox occurred in Europe, with most of the patients being men who had sex with men. But the WHO has cautioned that anyone who comes into close contact with a patient can be infected with monkey pox.
