In Monday’s interview with British media, Foreign Secretary David Cameron urged Israel to “think with head as well as heart” as the country weighs its response to an Iranian attack this weekend. According to the British top diplomat, Iran’s drone and missile attacks on Israel caused insignificant damage, so Israel needs to show restraint in escalating tension with Iran.

Also on Monday morning, French President Emmanuel Macron said that France will do all it can to avoid a further escalation in the Middle East.

On Sunday, the US, Israel’s most important ally, also called on the Israeli government to exercise restraint.

The two global powers of Russia and China called on all parties involved to end hostilities.

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council Sunday night, New York time, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia, said that Russia notes Tehran’s signal that it does not want to escalate with Israel.

“We urge the West and Jerusalem to follow suit and abandon the practice of provocative forceful acts in the Middle East, which are fraught with extremely dangerous risks and consequences caused by the conflict between Israel and Palestine,” said Nebenzia.

Rising tensions between Israel and Iran continue to add to commercial airline troubles. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency on Monday reaffirmed warnings to public airlines to use caution in Israeli and Iranian airspace. Dutch airline KLM said it was cancelling all flights to and from Israel’s capital Tel Aviv until Tuesday.
