Young Vietnamese scientists meet in Korea

(VOVworld) -  The third Annual Conference of Vietnamese Young Scientists (ACVYS 2016) was held on Sunday at Chung Ang University by the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Korea, with the collaboration of the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Chung Ang University, under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea and the Office of Science and Technology in Korea under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation under Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology Hà Thị Lâm Hồng said: “The conference is divided into 9 topics of great concern to many countries. The Law of Science and Technology adopted in 2013 was a breakthrough for the science and technology sectors. The Ministry of Science and Technology will support young scientists as much as possible in their research and in applying their research results.”

Trần Anh Vũ, Vietnamese Deputy Ambassador, said: “Conferences like this will provide Vietnamese researchers and students in the Republic of Korea with updates about Vietnam’s policies to develop science and technology.”

Phạm Hải Chiến, Standing Vice-President of the Vietnamese Students’ Association in Korea for the 2015-2017 term, said: “The conference provides an opportunity for Vietnamese scientists in Korea to present their new projects and raise the awareness of the importance of scientific research to Vietnam’s renewal and integration.”

In addition to a thematic discussion on the East Sea issue, there was a photo exhibition featuring the East Sea and Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty. The discussion of the East Sea issue, held by the Vietnamese embassy in Korea, examined Vietnam’s maritime situation and raised the awareness of the Vietnamese community in Korea of Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.
