Receiving Zelensky at Chequers Manor Buckinghamshire, Sunak pledged to supply Ukraine with anti-aircraft missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, begin basic training for Ukrainian pilots this summer, and work with other allies to provide F-16 jets.

Sunak said he will discuss the jets with the leaders of allied countries at the upcoming meetings of the European Council and the G7.

Zelensky said he feels “positive” about the prospect of Western allies quickly providing fighter jets to Ukraine.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said Monday that Ukraine’s own peace plan should serve as the starting point for any effort to end the conflict with Russia, adding that new sanctions against Russia will be discussed at the European Council meeting on Tuesday.
