Held in a wide and airy part of the Indochina Plaza Trade Center, there were more people coming in and out than usual and most of them were students as the festival took place near the Hanoi University of Education, the University of Commerce, and the University of Foreign Language Teachers. Nguyen Hong Tham, a student of the University of Technology, said that she likes such kind of events and came there to look for books for her studies. Tham shared her feeling: ‘I think it offers me a chance to make more friends from other colleges. Besides, there are many new books so I want to find out about them. Today I chose this book to give to one of my friends. The book is about the relationships and conservations between managers and subordinates, among coworkers. I just read a couple of pages but I found it suitable for us at the moment.’

Most students spent their lunch time going to the festival and bought many books, as they have to study in the morning. Dang Tuyet Mai, one of visitors to the festival: "I like comic books and books about household arts or books on human behavior in families and society. These books will help me become more self-confident and work better".

Many of the books on display offered discount of up to 30%. Luong Thanh Huyen, a student of the Academy of Journalism and Communications, said: "This is the first time I’ve participated in such an event. It’s an interesting way of advertising books while encouraging people to learn to love reading. Great discounts will inspire us to buy many books. Such prices are affordable for students".

The book festival also attracted foreign students in Hanoi. Many expressed surprise at the low prices. Korean student Kim Te Hun chose several Vietnamese fairy tales and noted: "Although I haven’t understood these books’ content, I know that one of them is about the two main characters in a popular Vietnamese folk story. Fairy tales are an easy way for me to learn the Vietnamese language, so that I can learn more about Vietnamese history and culture. I hope that in 1 or 2 years’ time, I will be able to read novels".

Kim’s friend is glad when she can read some simple sentences in a picture book: "In the early morning, a white rabbit and a brown rabbit are running behind their mother to eat mushroom in the forest". .

The reading area is arranged in a friendly and eye-catching way. Nguyen Kieu Van says she is a book lover and can’t resist coming to such a nicely arranged space. She added: "I think this model of mobile book displays should be replicated. Many people still love reading. Many book lovers are too busy to go to bookstores. Reading online is interesting but actually holding books is also fascinating". .

Tran Phuong Thao, Deputy Director of Thai Ha Book Company, said: ‘This type of book festival changes the approach to books. It’s different from the traditional model where people have to go to bookstores or libraries’.

During the festival, Thai Ha Book Company has launched the “Donation to build rural bookstores”. Anyone donating a book will receive an e-book of the Alezaa e-book system.
