The Vietnam-Russia oil and gas joint venture Vietsovpetro, Petrovietnam’ leading business, welcomed the first flow of oil extracted from  BK-18A and BK-19 oil rigs in Bach Ho (White Tiger) oil field on November 10 and 13 respectively.

Both BK-18A and BK-19 are new generation unmanned mini oil rigs designed and constructed  by Vietsovpetro at a lower cost. Petrovietnam General Director Le Manh Hung praised Vietsovpetro’s effort to fulfill and even surpass its key goals for 2021.

Vietsovpetro’s oil and condensate output hit 3.16 million tonnes this year (105.4% of its plan), generating a revenue of nearly 1.6 billion USD (147.5% of its plan) and contributing more than 866 million USD to the state budget (150 % of its plan). This is a remarkable achievement given the devastating impact of COVID-19 and fluctuations in oil prices, helping Petrovietnam to fulfill its oil output target of 9.72 million tonnes 39 days ahead of schedule.

Outstanding production and business achievements have added Petrovietnam to the list of top 500 most profitable enterprises in Vietnam for many consecutive years.

This year, the group once again won the title. It received the recognition on Thursday.

On this occasion, Petrovietnam honored the BK-19 oil rig construction project and gas well 61 in Dong Co commune, Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province as projects celebrating the 60th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vietnam oil and gas sector.

At gas well 61, Vietnam had, for the first time, discovered gas and condensate, opening a bright prospect for national industrialization and modernization. This area has been officially named as “Memorial site for the first oil and gas exploitation work in Vietnam.”
