The event has drawn 153 poets from 41 nations and territories. Nguyen Quang Thieu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, says the event aims to introduce Vietnamese literature to the world: “This year is a time for us to implement the strategy of the Vietnam Writers’ Association and the state to promote Vietnamese literature to the world. Vietnamese poetry is becoming more and more known to foreigners.  Literature, especially poetry, has a great power to link and show our Vietnamese ancestors have done throughout history”.

An exhibit of Vietnamese literary works translated and published in foreign countries will be part of the 2015 Vietnam Poetry Day.

28 young poets presented their latest works at the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Association in District 3 on Wednesday as part of National Poetry Day. Themed “Unification Spring-The City Thinking of the Country's Seas and Islands”, the event included 18 poems performed in different styles.
