Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed that the boom of information technology, especially digital technology and converging communications, opens a new era for communications, narrowing gaps of space and time: “The process of digitalization is the inevitable trend for radio and television stations around the world to improve communication’s effectiveness and meet listener and viewer demand for diversified information. I believe that the event, themed “Serving our audience in the digital era”, will be an opportunity for policy makers, speakers, and senior managers from ABU’s member organizations and partners to share their views and knowledge and to propose strategies and action plans for the industry. Bilateral and multilateral cooperation among member organizations should be strengthened to meet growing audience demand and contribute to peace, friendship, cooperation, and the development of all the nations in the world.”
