(VNA/VOVworld) - The 50th assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) member states has been held in Geneva, Switzerland over the last two days attracting thousands delegates. Ta Quang Minh, Director of Vietnam’s National Office of Intellectual Property in his presentations at the event stressed that Vietnam appreciates the outcomes of negotiations concerning the WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore for 2013. Mr. Minh said appropriate international legislation will be effective as a tool to combat bio piracy and the illegal use of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions. Minh said that Vietnam supported these meetings, if need be, to complete the necessary legal steps as well as a conference to approve thee documents.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation met with several major overseas partners to seek out new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
