The exchange of note on the Japanese government’s two non-refundable projects for Vietnam was signed on Friday. Addressing the signing ceremony, Le Hoai Trung, head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission, said the projects help Vietnam improve marine research capacity.

“These are two very practical projects and a testament to the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan. We also hope that this is just the beginning, and Japan will continue to help Vietnam more in the marine sector, which is very important to Vietnam, the region, and the wider world,” said Mr. Trung.

Through the marine research vessel project, Japan hopes that Vietnam will promote its capacity in surveying marine resources, contributing to the implementation of the Strategy on sustainable development of Vietnam’s marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045. The project on equipment for investigating, surveying and analyzing marine plastic waste will help Vietnam tackle the ocean plastic waste problem.
