Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc, former director the Party History Institute of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, said he paid special attention to the Party Central Committee’s discussion on reviewing 10 years of implementing the Platform on national construction in the transitional period to socialism. He said: “Looking back at 10 years and even 30 years of implementing Platform 1991, what new perception will we acquire? What happened during the 10-year building socialism in line with the supplemented and developed Platform 2011? The Platform 2011 highlights 8 characteristics of socialism in Vietnam. What are the new things that we have observed over the past 10 years?”

Do Duy Thuong, a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s Presidium, said documents, which will be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress, must focus on democracy.

“It’s necessary to continue to institutionalize direct democracy and representative democracy  to uphold the strength of national solidarity and the people’s mastery. The draft documents emphasize the concretization of the people’s direct democracy, particularly grassroots democracy,” Mr. Thuong added.

Mai Thi Phuong, a Party member in Quang Ninh province, is interested in the Congress’ major decisions on Party organization and personnel. She said: “The Party Central Committee is thoroughly preparing for the 13th National Party Congress, particularly in Party building and implementing Party regulations. This is evidenced by the expulsion of Nguyen Bac Son and Truong Minh Tuan from the Party.”
