Seminar on Parliamentary Library for Vietnamese NA

Experts and parliamentary officers from Vietnam and overseas gathered for a seminar in Hanoi on Thursday to share their experiences in building and operating a parliamentary library. The event, themed ‘Parliamentary Library: International Experiences’, was co-organised by the Vietnamese National Assembly Office and the Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation. Doctor Nguyen Si Dung, deputy head of the NA Office, said that building a NA library is now essential to meet the growing demands for information from NA deputies. This would improve the quality of information and promote the dissemination of references, documents and a mountain of information. It will also help the NA’s administrative machinery run in a more effective and modern manner. Experts from the Republic of Korea and Australia explained the intrinsic relationship between legislative research services and the library. Proposals put forward at the event will help ensure that the Vietnamese NA Library project will improve the quality of information supplied to NA deputies.
