Trade promotion activities have helped Vietnam maintain export surplus for the 8th consecutive year, with a record surplus estimated at 28 billion USD last year. More than 10,000 businesses have participated in and benefited directly from these trade promotion programs.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade stressed the need to boost trade promotion and market development in 2024 at a conference on Wednesday in Hanoi.

Le Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality, Processing, and Market Development of Agricultural Products, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, suggested that Vietnam expand markets to the Middle East and Africa.

“Every year we receive support from the Department of Trade Promotion to send 20 agricultural processing and production enterprises to introduce their products to the Middle East and African markets. We will try to further increase exports, especially aquatic products, to these markets,” Hoa said.

Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Department of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade, predicted risks facing this year’s import and export activities given increasing trade protection in many countries. He urged Vietnamese exporters to carefully monitor market information and coordinate closely with Vietnamese trade agencies abroad.
