UNDP encourages environmental sustainability

(VOVworld) – The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has noted Vietnam’s considerable achievements in ensuring a sustainable environment in recent years. To reach the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) on environmental sustainability by 2015, the UNDP has recommended that Vietnam focus more on clean water, environmental sanitation, climate change, and biodiversity preservation. Localities have been urged to invest in human resource training and encourage greater involvement by local authorities and residents to ensure the sustainability of water and environmental services.

Vietnam is one of the 16 countries with the greatest biodiversity in terms of habitats, species, and genes. So, protecting the wildlife environment should be given priority in biodiversity conservation. Functional agencies were asked to adopt preferential policies to get the private sector and the public involved in environmental protection.
