Co-hosted by Vietnam and Japan, the program is attended by 18 member states of ADMM+, involving 10 ASEAN countries plus Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, the US, and New Zealand.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Lieutenant General Phung Sy Tian said this is the first time Vietnam has hosted a multilateral activity on United Nations peacekeeping operations on a large scale in terms of both forces and facilities.

The event affirms Vietnam's position and its contribution to multilateral cooperation mechanisms on the UN peacekeeping mission in the region and within the framework of ADMM+, said Tan.

He said nearly 300 experts, students, and observers from ADMM+ member countries are attending the program to boost partnership and cooperation, improve coordination capability and peacekeeping skills in performing tactical-level peacekeeping duties among the peacekeeping forces of ADMM+ member states.

“This is a good opportunity for delegates to exchange, share experiences, train and practice skills in implementing peacekeeping tasks, which are close to the reality encountered at United Nations peacekeeping missions. This program will contribute to strengthening friendship and cooperation in UN peacekeeping among ADMM+ member countries,” Tan affirmed.

Running through next Wednesday at National Military Training Center No.4 and Engineering Battalion 31 of Brigade 28 under the Air Defense - Air Force Service, the program will enhance the friendship and cooperation among ADMM+ members and their coordination of military observers, engineers, and medical personnel.
