Vietnam vows to work closely with the world in climate change response

Vietnam vows to work closely with the international community in climate change response. Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha told reporters in Hanoi on Thursday that the commitment was delivered at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2011 (COP 17) which concluded on Sunday in Durban, South Africa. Ha, who headed the Vietnamese delegation at the session, said he informed the world of Vietnam’s initiatives in response to climate change, as well as its viewpoint on a possible international agreement to realize the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol after 2012. Deputy Minister Ha said: “The World Bank and the UN Environment Program have provided training courses for Vietnamese negotiators. The Vietnamese delegation members received useful assistance from the World Bank, UNDP,  and other organizations and governments at the Durban conference”.
During the UN Conference, Vietnamese participants had 20 bilateral meetings with other countries on climate change response cooperation.
