The Vietnamese embassy in the US held a new year get-together on Sunday in Washington. Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong reviewed Vietnam’s achievements in 2013. He said that, despite many difficulties, Vietnam’s macro-economy was more stable, with higher growth rate and a lower inflation rate. Vietnam has seen improved living standards, stable politics and society, national security and an enhanced position in the international arena.

On the same day, speaking at a meeting of overseas Vietnamese in Malaysia, Vietnam’s ambassador Nguyen Hong Thao reviewed the most important events in diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Malaysia last year, particularly the high-level delegation visits between the two countries. The participants enjoyed Vietnamese Tet dishes and took part in a variety of cultural activities.

The Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic also organized a new year festival on Sunday. Ambassador Truong Manh Son spoke highly of great contributions made to the integration process in the Czech Republic by the Vietnamese community, who are the 14th largest ethnic group in the country. The ambassador expressed his hope that in 2014 the Vietnamese community would continue to remain united, become further integrated into the Czech society but also to think of the homeland.
