People nationwide celebrate the lunar new year

(VOVworld) -  On the second day of the lunar new year, Vietnamese people and foreign tourists visited the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum in Hanoi to show their esteem to the great leader. Dao Thi Trang and her family come from Hai Duong province: “I and my family always want to visit Uncle Ho’s mausoleum. People from many places also come here to pay tribute to the national great leader. This is a chance for us to honor our ancestor’s merits to bring us peace, happiness, and prosperity.”

In the central province of Thua Thien Hue, people go to the pagodas to pray for peace and good luck. 100 pagodas in Hue city attracted tens of thousands of pilgrims on the 1st and 2nd day of the lunar new year. Venerable Thich Hue Phuoc, head of Tu Lam pagoda, said going to the pagoda to pray for peace is a fine tradition of Vietnamese people. “People go to the pagoda at the beginning of the year to pray the Mitreya Buddha or the Buddha of future. He is honored for the characteristics of mercy, joy, and sympathy. I hope all people can understand his morals to leave a better life.”

People in Hue go to Thien Mu pagoda to pray for good luck
In Dong Thap province, people celebrate the 2016 Spring festival and the province’s 40th anniversary. Tran Hoang Dung lives in Cao Lanh city: “People mainly go to Van Mieu park, where several entertainment and art performances are being held. There are many installation works depicting Dong Thap’s history. I wish our country will prosper and people will have a happier Tet.”
