Mai Dong ward has become the first locality in the capital to set up a checkpoint with the aim of controlling the movement of local people, whilst simultaneously preventing both shippers and strangers from entering the area.
This comes after the authorities of Hoang Mai district urged its 14 wards to establish checkpoints in order to ensure that residential areas avoid being hit by the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
So far roughly 50 checkpoints have been established in Mai Dong and Dai Kim wards.
Locals must complete healthcare declarations whilst following the Health Ministry’s COVID-19 control measures before being permitted to go in and out of these areas.
Delivery people are banned from entering these areas called "Green Zone" for the purpose of safety.
Each person must present a certificate of travel along with an identity card at each checkpoint they come across.
The move receives plenty of support from local residents.
