The exhibition largely focuses on the ceramics technique yakishime which sees unglazed wares fired at high temperatures.
On display are more than 80 items which aim to introduce Japanese culture to local people. The items on show range from the earliest examples to contemporary works.
The event features Yakishime wares of two types, including utensils used in the tea ceremony, a major influence on the development of traditional Japanese culture, and tableware which is an essential part of everyday life in Japan.
It also consists of various non-utilitarian objects that have been created by contemporary ceramic artists working with Yakishime.
The exhibition helps visitors to gain a greater understanding about the diversity of Japanese culture and gain insights into its creation.
The event is jointly organized by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and the Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan.
The exhibition is scheduled to last through to April 20.
