Editor's Letter

To users of www.vovworld.vn

On Monday, 16 January 2012, the Overseas Service of Radio the Voice of Vietnam is happy to announce an important event- We are officially launching our website at vovworld.vn and vov5.vn which we have been beta testing since December 15th, 2011.

VOV’s Overseas Service has 12 programs broadcasting 51 hours of programming a day in 12 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Laotian, Cambodian, and Vietnamese for Vietnamese who are living abroad. Our programs are broadcast around the world on shortwave, medium wave, and on FM for foreigners living and working in Vietnam.

Over the past 67 years, together with other Radio Voice of Vietnam channels, the Overseas Service has made a significant contribution  to national construction and defense, and has been a bridge linking Vietnam with international friends, giving them an honest picture of Vietnam, its land, people and culture, and introducing a dynamic, developing and peace-loving Vietnam.

The steady development of digital technology has created great opportunities for radio broadcasters to engage their listeners in more convenient ways. In recent months, Radio the Voice of Vietnam has worked hard to prepare for today’s launch of a Website in Vietnamese and 11 other languages based on the radio programs of the Overseas Service. The website is at vovworld.vn and vov5.vn.

On this website, in addition to regularly storing digital recordings of VOV radio programs for a week, the main contents of the radio programs will be transcribed. Special features, songs, and graphic images that might be of interest to our listeners are also part of our new website.

By launching this website at vovworld.vn, Radio the Voice of Vietnam wants to create a link that brings greater convenience to our listeners. VOV listeners throughout the world can now read and listen to our Radio Programs and have their feedback and requests responded to almost immediately. We will continue refining our radio programs so that our readers and listeners overseas can receive the latest and liveliest news.

On this occasion, we are continuing on the support and cooperation of our international organizations, foreign diplomatic services in Vietnam, Ministries, relevant agencies, and audience all over the world to help us make our website vovworld.vn more relevant and engaging.

We would like to express our special thanks to VOV’s leaders and to the editorial and functional departments at VOV, especially the VOVonline newspaper and the audio center for supporting us in launching this website.
