The flight was arranged by Vietnamese authorities, the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta, Vietjet Air, and Indonesian agencies. The returnees are those from disadvantaged backgrounds such as children, elderly people, students without places to live and people whose visas have expired.

Ton Thi Thuy Trang, a Vietnamese student in Indonesia, told a VOV reporter: “I feel happy when the Vietnamese government helps us return to Vietnam when the pandemic is ravaging Indonesia. I extend my thanks to the Vietnamese government, the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia, and the Indonesian government for organizing this flight.”
