Addressing the ceremony, Vietnam’s President Truong Tan Sang said the press has grown along with the revolution while serving the revolution and the nation. He praised the revolutionary media as true soldiers who, with pens and paper as their weapons, have made worthy contributions to the cause of national liberation, construction and defense: "I call on the media to continue presenting an accurate picture of the country’s development, while fulfilling its role as a bridge connecting the people with the Party and the Government. The media should continue improving the quality of its work to strengthen the people’s trust, and uphold its leading role on the ideology front. Journalists are asked to put national interests above anything else while doing their job."

The 118 awards included 9 A, 26 B, 54 C and 29 consolation prizes. A group of journalists of the VOV News and Current Affairs Channel won an A Prize for their program “Ho Chi Minh’s testament - A testament about humans and for humans”.
