A signboard of memory to praise diplomats in the Great Patriotic War

(VOVworld) – The Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday posted a memorial signboard on the former headquarters of the People’s Commissariat for Foreign Affairs in recognition of the contribution of diplomats in the Great Patriotic War.

Posted at 21 on Kuznets Bridge Street in central Moscow, the board depicts militia men, diplomats, and staff of the People’s Commissariat for Foreign Affairs in the fight against Nazi Germany. “Stand up, great nation, stand up for the death battle”, the diplomat’s motto is engraved on the board. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was speaking at the dedication ceremony: "We have contributed to preserving an undeniable fact of history and Russia’s well-deserved position in the international arena. This ceremony reminds us that the disastrous consequences the war left behind should never recur"
Pursuing an initiative by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the work was created by People's Artist of Russia sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev and architect Vladimir Syagin.
