(VOVworld)-UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says the Arab League and the UN are considering sending a joint mission to Syria. The statement came after Ban met with Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi to discuss the current situation in Syria since the League suspended its monitoring mission to Syria at the end of last month because of the mounting violence. Ban said he is ready to support to improve the situation in Syria, adding that consultations will be held with the Arab League and UN Security Council members in coming days. The move came after the UN Security Council failed to approve a draft resolution on Syria because Russia and China vetoed.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has urged members of the UN Security Council to continuously seek a solution to help Syria resolve the crisis. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu announced plans for an international meeting to forge a common approach between regional players and world powers to the Syrian crisis.
