Australian Governor-General arrives in Vietnam for State visit

(VOVWORLD) - Australian Governor-General David Hurley and his wife Linda Hurley arrived in Hanoi on Monday, beginning a 4-day State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong.

This is the first state visit to Vietnam by a foreign leader this year and the first state guest of President Vo Van Thuong since he took office last month.

Mr. Hurley and his entourage will lay wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, and President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum in Hanoi, hold talks with President Vo Van Thuong, and meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. 
President Thuong and Governor-General Hurley will jointly visit Vietnam's peacekeeping force. 
Mr. Hurley and his wife will attend events marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties and educational and people-to-people exchange activities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.
He will also meet alumni who graduated from Australian universities and visit educational institutions in HCM city.
