The Datafolha survey showed Rousseff, the candidate of the Workers' Party, with 48% of voter support compared to 42% for Neves of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party. A survey by Ibope, one of Brazil's top polling firms, showed Rousseff winning 49 to 41%.

This is the first time polls have shown Rousseff’s advantage to be higher than the margin of error.

This is Brazil’s first presidential election since it escaped from dictatorship in 1989.
