(VOVworld)-Central provinces from Quang Ngai and Phu Yen have suffered from heavy rains as tropical storm Gaemi approaches. Local government are completing their evacuation of affected people to safe areas while ensuring the safety operation of reservoirs.

Central provinces strengthen preparedness against tropical storm Gaemi

Nguyen Ngoc Nam is a member of the flood control task force in Binh Dinh province:  “We have prepared sufficient resources and materials, including sand bags, life buoys, lights and speakers. We have strengthened dyke system and prepared safe areas for evacuation.”

Local governments are on high alert during the weekend and pay special attention to the safety of hydro power plant reservoirs. Chairman of Bac Tra My mountainous district people’s committee, Dang Phong, was speaking on measures to ensure people’s safety in Song Tranh II power plant: “We have reviewed high places for the evacuation of 13,000 people in the district in case of necessary. We will provide sufficient basic necessities for them, including medicines and food.”
