Colombian President urges signing of a peace deal

(VOVworld) – Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has suggested organizing a meeting between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) to push ahead with the signing of a peace agreement to end the prolonged civil war.

Santo said his brother Enrique Santos was assigned as special envoy to the peace talks in Havana, Cuba, to sign the agreement as soon as possible and before March 2016.
At a meeting with Enrique Santos, FARC leader Timoleon Jimenezcho expressed his hope that the talks will obtain positive result. He said the signing of a peace agreement depends on both sides’ good will, not the matter of time.
The same day, the USAID signed an agreement to fund Colombia 636 million USD for socio-economic development and national reconstruction if a peace agreement is signed.
