Deputy Prime Minister visits SOS children’s village

(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on late Sunday visited and presented gifts to children in the SOS Children’s Village in Da Lat in Lam Dong province on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Phuc said the Party, State and society always pay special attention to the nation’s disadvantaged people, especially children. He also thanked international organizations for their support in building the system of SOS villages in Vietnam. He asked ministries, sectors and localities to further invest in constructing facilities and improving conditions for the care and education of disadvantaged youth.

The Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights in collaboration with the Committee for Ethnic Minorities and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs held a special Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in Hoa Binh province. The organizing board presented 500 scholarships and 1,000 gifts to outstanding poor students, ethnic minority students in 4 provinces, and differently-abled children from Nguyen Dinh Chieu School in Hanoi. Speaking at the event, National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu expressed appreciation for the organizing activities and said this activity embraces Vietnam’s tradition, love and responsibility for children from ethnic groups and remote areas.
