(VOVworld) – A development master plan for the Red River delta up to 2020 was announced in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The region will become a leader in economic restructuring and growth model change in order to become Vietnam’s locomotive in terms of economic development. Vu Quang Cac, an official from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, said: “The specific development requirements for this region will include improving growth quality and competitiveness together with sustainable development. Priority will be given to the spearhead sectors including economic restructurings toward green growth. Development should take into consideration climate change, the rising sea waters and national defense and security.”
