Elevating Vietnam-Japan relations to a new level

(VOVworld) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, will visit Japan from September 15-19, 2015. Mr. Trong gave an interview to major Japanese media agencies including Kyodo News, Nikkei, NHK, Yomiuri Shimbun, and Asahi Shimbun on September 12.

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said that this this is his first ever official visit to Japan in the capacity as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam at the invitation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. With this visit, Vietnam wants to affirm its unswerving policy of considering Japan as one of its most important and long-term development partners and its desire to further deepen the Extensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries for regional peace and prosperity.

Aiming to strengthen economic connectivity, political trust, and bilateral cooperation in regional and global issues, Mr. Trong expected that the visit will generate new momentum for the Vietnam-Japan relationship to soar. He wished that Japan will continue to provide ODA to Vietnam, increase investment in high-tech and support industries, agriculture, forestry, and fishery. Mr. Trong expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership will continue to flourish for the interests of the two peoples.
