Photographers take pictures as Occupy Central founders called on protesters to pull back from the main protest site next to government headquarters and said they will surrender to police.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Benny Tai, Chan Kin-man, and Chu Yiu-ming said that they would surrender to police on Wednesday—2 days earlier than their intention—to ensure the safety of the protesters. Last Sunday hundreds of protesters clashed with riot police near the government headquarters in Admiralty District, injuring tens of people.
