IEA: global temperature to double 2DC target

The International Energy Agency on Monday warned that global temperatures would double the projected 2 degree Celsius step increase. The agency proposed 4 policies to limit climate change without harming economic growth. They involve increasing efficiency energy in buildings, industry and transport sectors, reducing the construction of coal-fueled power plants, reducing methane emission from oil and gas extraction, and reducing fuel subsidies. The IEA warned that delaying efforts to limit climate change would result in substantial additional costs to the energy sector and pose more threats to other sectors.
