Foreign ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh urged the US to make a decision to wrap up the deal to salvage Iran's 2015 nuclear accord with world powers, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Khatibzadeh said there are important issues that still need to be decided upon by Washington, and Iran will wait for a US response before returning to Vienna.

Russia said the talks in Vienna were halted after it demanded guarantees that the Western sanctions against Moscow over Ukraine issues will not damage its trade with Iran.
