(VOVWORLD) - Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh will pay an official visit to Vietnam from Saturday to Monday at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The two PMs will co-chair the 44th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee and launch the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022.
Over the years, cooperation between the two countries has steadily expanded in all areas. Many cooperation projects on telecommunications networks, transportation, hydropower, rubber plantations, coffee, schools, and hospitals have been completed in remote regions of Laos. The two countries have also stood side by side in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
2022 is an important year for Vietnam and Laos as the two countries will celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations and 45 years of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
