(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese People Association in Udomxay, northern Laos, donated nearly 5 thousand USD to soldiers and other people living on Vietnam’s islands.

The Vietnamese community in Udomxay collect donation for the cause of protecting Vietnam's sovereignty.

Chairman Phí Văn Mai of the Vietnamese People Association in Udomxay said at a ceremony held on Tuesday that the Vietnamese community in Laos always turn their hearts to the homeland, especially now that China has illegally deployed oil rig Hai Yang 981 and escort vessels in Vietnam’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). He said China’s actions have threatened peace, stability, and security in the East Sea, souring Vietnam-China relations.
