Malcolm Turnbull sworn in as new Australian Prime Minister

(VOVworld) – Malcolm Turnbull, a former Minister for Communications, was sworn in as Australia’s new Prime Minister in Tuesday morning.

Mr Turnbull told reporters that he would maintain a “traditional cabinet” to make sure that every decision was made on a majority consensus. He said his top priority now was to boost Australia’s shrinking economy and that he would stick to the Coalition’s policies on climate change. Mr Turnbull said he woualdn’t call for a snap election and the current Australian Parliament would serve until the end of its tenure. Australia’s next general election will be held in September 2016. After taking the oath of office, Mr Turnbull attended his first Question Time in Parliament as Prime Minister.
