(VOVworld) – A meeting themed “For a TB-free Vietnam” opened today/ on Saturday to respond to World Tuberculosis Day, March 24. The event was co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Hanoi People’s Committee, and the National Anti-tuberculosis Program.
The Ministry of Health and relevant agencies are mapping out a TB control strategy to 2020, vision to 2030, which will be submited for the government’s approval. Dinh Ngoc Sy, Director of the National Anti-tuberculosis Program, said: “We cannot eradicate TB overnight, but in many years. The world hopes to wipe out TB out by 2050. So, the fight against TB in Vietnam will be long.”
After the meeting, hundreds of youth volunteers held a demonstration across streets in Hanoi with messages of the disease’s dangers.
