Myanmar sets presidential election dates

(VOVworld) – Myanmar’s Parliament decided on Tuesday to bring forward the presidential election from March 17 to March 10. The 3 houses that make up the Parliament (Lower House, Upper House, and the Military) will introduce their nominees to run for the presidency. The one who wins the most votes will become Myanmar’s new president, while the two with the fewer votes will automatically become vice-presidents.

The nomination list will be presented to the Parliament speaker.

The presidential election will be followed by the formation of a new government, which will take power at the end of March.
