Netanyahu appears in court on corruption charges

(VOVWORLD) -Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday was in the District Court of Jerusalem as his trial on corruption charges opened.

Speaking to reporters in the corridors of the courthouse ahead of the hearing, Netanyahu decried police and prosecutors he accused of attempting to topple him.

The first session ended after about an hour. Mr. Netanyahu's defense team asked the court to grant a three-month delay to deal with the huge caseload of evidence. The case, with hundreds of witnesses, could last months if not years.
