Overseas Vietnamese scientists launch Astrophysics Group

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's first astrophysics research group has been established by three Overseas Vietnamese scientists.

They are Dr. Nguyen Trong Hien a Vietnamese-American astrophysicist working for NASA, Dr. Hoang Chi Thiem of the Korean Astronomy and Space Science Institute, and Dr. Nguyen Luong Quang of American University. 

The group called SAGI Astrophysics Group is sponsored by the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) in Binh Dinh province, where Professor Tran Thanh Van hosts, hoping to turn it into a venue for scientists

SAGI will organize seminars and workshops at home and abroad, and support the research of young scientists in Vietnam, including the collaboration of experts and PhD students, and build capacity for operating Quy Nhon Astronomical Observatory.
