Overseas Vietnamese urged to contribute to homeland development

(VOVWORLD) - Overseas Vietnamese from around the world have returned to Vietnam for early Tet (Lunar New Year) gatherings.

A gathering took place in Tra Vinh province on Monday, drawing 100 OVs from the US, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. Le Hoang Thuan, an OV from the US, said Vietnamese living abroad will further contribute to the development of Tra Vinh province.

At a similar event the same day in Ninh Thuan province, President of the provincial Fatherland Front Phan Huu Duc said locanl authorities always inform OVs about investment policies and that he wants OVs to connect with businesses in their host countries to boost local development.

At an event on Tuesday in Soc Trang province, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ngo Hung said he hopes OVs will contribute to new rural development and social security development, and always turn to their homeland.
