Also Wednesday, Indonesia’s Go-Jek and Go-Viet inaugurated a passenger transportation service with the attendance of Indonesian President Joko Widodo. It’s part of Go-Jek’s half-a-billion USD development plan in Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Philippine.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc spoke at the WEF-ASEAN opening ceremony: “The Vietnamese government wants to see more cooperative agreements to show the world that start-up spirit has spread all over ASEAN. With technological advancement, ASEAN can be a source of innovations.”

A representative of Go-Viet said the service will better serve clients’ demand and generate stable income for tens of thousands of drivers by using international standard technology customized for the Vietnamese market. Go-Viet will begin with transportation service before expanding to food delivery, shopping, e-payment, and other services.
